No 'Rain Dance' please.....  - 01/03/2007 << Chairmans View List

Just when you think the weather is opening up and the rains - and when it rains it sure does rain these days - are passing by down comes another lot and goes nowhere so that yet another fixture is postponed. Thought we might be entering into a period of regularity but seems not so with the midweek game also off for different reasons. Anyway, fingers crossed and hope for a brighter Saturday and Thursday and Friday for that matter to at least play the game. One thing of course is that, whereas in times not long ago when notes were written and Programmes slaved over by our esteemed Editor and confined to the bin or Bes'es archives, when a game was postponed we now go straight onto the web-site and are saved for all to see in posterity or longer. The number of hits we are getting is massive and shows the worth of the extra put into the site this season. A quite phenomenal number from the USA I'm told by Kev - Well they have one or two versions of good old Bridgwater or Bridgewater don't they - enough for Roger Evans to write another copy or two with or without the 'E' !

Neatly into our thanks to the BRIDGWATER TOWN COUNCIL for generously sponsoring the game today. One of the first with our new Corporate or Targeted Sponsorship based on a tried and tested format not far away. We are glad to see a number of new faces introduced and hope that they will enjoy the fayre and return. It is good though that BTC have started this sports sponsorship programme to do their bit for sport in the town - began at the B & A RFC last year and likely to take in Bridgwater Cricket Club next - and at the same time encourage a range of people from the town to meet and network - apologies for the cliché. Trust the whole event is a success and with the right result of course and thanks to those who have coped with the extra work of the pre-match hospitality. Welcome to many of our other sponsors as well who's help and support for the club in so many ways is vital

Enough written last week of the immediate past matches but note that Corsham lost again to keep all interested It is toughening up at the top and thereabouts. So today another stiff test in the shape of Calne Town, themselves with some good results and notable scalps. We expect a hard game and relish no less. Welcome the other team - the men in black - also and let us see a spectacle with all the right ingredients. One other welcome today is for Tom Manley fresh between the sticks and pleased to have on board. All enjoy…..
