From the man at the top - ALAN HURFORD
A final is a final, even a two-legged final, and if that is the feeling and buzz we want more. A great night with only one thing wrong - the result. It is difficult for me to admit but we were second best over the two legs and the Adders given a sniff came on stronger and stronger. After Pepp's excellent early goal, and one or two chances, it was a case of what might have been. Nice cup though. A bit of the rub of the green you know and maybe a game too far - who's to know.
One thing for certain no lack of entertainment and well done to everyone who attended another excellent crowd topping five hundred with plenty down from the midlands. Give yourselves a pat on the back for Tuesday and in fact every home (and away) game this season. Your support has been tremendous. Thanks also of course to all those many sponsors - contributions have been invaluable. Good also to see Emma from BBC Somerset Radio (95.5fm or thereabouts) here and by the mentions so far enjoying all. Welcome back anytime.
And now - for the umpteenth time of trying… Welcome to Cirencester. Have a good evening and here's to another competitive game of football. I am sure it will be if the previous encounter is anything to go by. Once again let the soccer do the talking before we turn our attention to the long lazy hazy days of summer - after a trip to Slough nee Beaconsfield that is. Still mathematically possible but it will take an Einstein I fear to capture the play-off place. But stranger things have happened.
What else - well the road to the ground with a Canadian duck intervening and the tractor shed with a ferret (or was it a beaver?) - it takes three and what's next before this becomes Charlie's own secret world.
Noted the water may have flowed under the bridge for the last time. Hope not cause the variety of contributions and opinions is what separates this epistle from the norm. Just ask the Somerset FA reps. If an opinion is expressed you can be sure someone will disagree with it and counter-view it. My point MH never too late to apply for your own situation vacant. Welcome back - you will be.
A quote… " I shall be an autocrat: that's my trade. And the good Lord will forgive me: that's his. " None other than Catherine the Great - but then you knew that.
Enjoy…
