North Leigh - what you would have read  - 28/11/2009 << Chairmans View List

Greetings to North Leigh for what I am sure will be another hard fought contest. We need the home form and results to match the away form as we saw again last week. Another fine result away at Andover on Saturday and a job well done with Nat's single goal enough. Opposite last Tuesday when another excellent crowd here - midweek numbers are getting closer to the Saturday norm which is great to see - when nearly 90 minutes of chasing the game never acquired the deserved goal(s). Not our best performance with the crossing of the ball below par and not much falling right in the opposition box, but nonetheless enough in my book to have eaked out a result. Sometimes you have to give your opponents some credit and one thing they did do was work their socks off and chase and 'harry' all game. Lessons every time you take to the field.

Although many travelled on Saturday, still a very good crowd here for the Reserves home cup-tie even with the early kick-off on one of the darkest days of the year, keeping the Treasurer happy with no floodlights! and a full complement watching the later premier game and some staying on for Real Madrid. Despite the weather and some robust stuff the young (almost all Robbie) team did really well to win 2-0 through Billy Wizz and Connor. Just imagine with his growing ability what would the tall Connor pictured in the B/Merc completing a defensive header be worth - Premiership bound without a doubt - and if he keeps up the progress at the current rate could go higher anyway.

An invention: Think already exists and often used by Referees. Called the 'get out of jail' card and used to explain any decision however debatable. Even the aficionado’s GP 'it can still be a foul even if the ball is played first.

Finally EDF. You may have caught wind of some interest in the ground from that quarter. It is certainly much to our surprise included in the weighty tomb called the 'Initial Consultation' document as a possible site for associated development viz 'accommodation' allied to B & A RFC and the College. One agents phone call on the day was our only notice. Watch this space I am on the case !!!
