Town came back from two goals down to achieve, in the end, a reasonably comfortable 5-2 victory over Almondsbury UWE on Saturday afternoon.
Almondsbury UWE is a combination of Almondsbury and the University of West of England and are managed by former Town joint boss Danny Phillips.
In the first ten minutes the visitors stunned Bridgwater scoring from a well placed shot following a corner and then doubled their lead with a free-kick.
Bridgwater stemmed the flow and responded in the best possible way when a shot from Alex Pounde was deflected into the net by an unfortunate defender.
After half an hour, Town squared the game with a coolly converted Nat Pepperell spot kick after a Town forward was upended in the box.
Both sides went into the break on level terms with Bridgwater battling back from a disappointing start to the game.
Going into the second half Bridgwater began to pick up the pace and were starting to outplay their Western League opponents.
Marcus Duharty then put Town in front for the first time when he knocked home from close range.
Nat Pepperell set up Jamie Price for Town’s fourth as the home side really began to dominate proceedings.
Andy Robertson then completed the scoring and put Town in the ascendancy when he put the final touch to flowing move that had the crowd of 130 or so warmly applauding a confident all round performance.
