Bridgwater Town are without two of their most influential players this season with Pete Monks in Australia for 12 months and Danny Forward taking up a teaching position in London writes Pete Besley.
For this game at Windsor and Eton they were also without the services of midfielder Andy Robinson who was serving out a one match suspension following his recent sending off for two yellow cards at Mangotsfield.
These set backs were put to one side as Town produced an excellent 90 minutes in gaining a point against their high flying opponents.
In the early stages,Windsors Michael Chennels hit a shot over the bar when well placed and Towns Steve Orchard set up Chris Young, who brought a smart save from the home keeper.
On 19 minutes,Windsor and Eton took the lead. With no impending danger, Matt Pitcher,in attempting a clearance, sliced the the ball over keeper Sam Hutchins and into the back of the net.
Town recovered from this set back and took the game to their hosts playing their traditional good football which started to unsettle their opponents who are joint top of the table.
Towns cause was helped when Windsors prolific Chennels limped off with a hamstring injury.
The second half began with Town well on top and they scored a deserved equaliser when a Steve Orchard corner found the head of Chris Young at the far post who comfortably headed home.
Windsor recovered and tried to force their way back into the game but Town were in uncompromising mood and the back four of Price,O'Donnel,Pitcher and Laird ably supported by Beadle gave little away.
The nearest Windsor came was when Fagan hit the upright following a corner but Bridgwater finished the stronger and made their way home satisfied from a good afternoons performance.
