Bridgwater Town completely out classed bottom club Bracknell and produced a five star performance on another sun drenched Saturday at Fairfax Park writes Brian Austin.
Town went on the attack from the start and Graham Mercieca brought a save from Bracknell's keeper Tom McNeill after just 45 seconds.
Jamie Lairds left foot set up early chances for Mercieca and Natt Pepperell as Bridgwaters policy of playing football from the back bemused and confused Bracknell.
On twelve minutes Pepperell, again set up by Laird.cut in from the right and lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper and only desperate defending prevented Matt Beadle from giving Town the lead.
In a rare Bracknell attack Williamson-Richardson stole between Laird and Matt Pitcher but toe poked wide when he could and perhaps should have done better.
Town went back on the attack and it came as no surprise when the lively Marcus Duharty gave them the lead on 19 minutes heading home a Pepperell cross.
Further chances came and went before Duharty scored again on 26 minutes when following a superb move involving several passes he hit an unstoppable swerving volley from fully twenty five yards past the overworked McNeill.
Bracknell somehow survived until half time without conceding another but were flattered by the 2-0 scoreline.
The second half began with Town right on top.The hard working Chris Young sent Pepperell away down the right and his low cross was cleared for a corner with Mercieca closing in.
Town went further ahead in the fifty ninth minute when following another brilliant move Young scored a great goal crashing the ball into the top left hand corner of the net from 15 yards.
Ben Kirk,on for Mitch O'Donnell, then set up another chance for Pepperell but he shot over when well placed.
Pepperell and Jamie Price were now causing havoc down the right and their interchanging was causing Bracknell all kinds of problems and from one of these moves the ball was cleared for a throw on the left.Mercieca produced one of his characteristic long throws,it was headed on by Kirk, and Pepperell scored from close range with a rare header.
Town forced corner after corner but the combination of McNeill in goal and Bracknells superb captain and centre half Dave Stevens, who was outstanding, some how contrived to keep Bridgwater out until the 77th minute when Duharty was put through following another interchange of passes and as McNeill advanced he brilliantly lobbed the ball over him and into the back of the net to complete a superb hat trick and end the scoring.
The last ten minutes produced further half chances but make no mistake about it Bracknell were given a footballing lesson by Bridgwater who on this form are a match for anyone in this division and will soon start to climb the league table.
Man of the match Marcus Duharty.
