
In DIVISION ONE SOUTH & WEST, Windsor & Eton consolidated their place at the top of the table with a 2-0 'away' win against tenants Bedfont Green. Joe Chandiram broke the deadlock by giving Windsor the lead on the hour-mark and Matt Seedel converted a stoppage time penalty for the second. Second-placed AFC Totton stayed in touch with a 3-0 win at VT FC, courtesy of goals from Mark Gosney with a brace and Nathan Jack. Gosport Borough, three-up in the first half-hour from Justin Bennett with two and Dane Wooden, recorded a comfortable 4-0 home win over Andover – Rob Tambling netted the other after 71 minutes. Thatcham Town, after taking the lead in the first minute through Ben McCready, won 2-1 at Hungerford Town, whose equaliser was also scored by Thatcham`s Matt Bowler. Stef Brown grabbed the winner 11 minutes from time. Uxbridge scored a goal in each half from Gary Sargeant and Adam Wallace to record a 2-0 home win over AFC Hayes. Bishops Cleeve recovered from going two goals behind after 33 minutes to a Simon Futcher brace to win 5-2 at home against North Leigh in front of a ‘huge‘ Boxing Day crowd of 74. Elliott Kennedy and Sam Avery both bagged braces for Cleeve, with an own goal accounting for the other. Mangotsfield United won 3-1 at home against third-from-bottom Cinderford Town with second half goals from Dan Spill, Neil Arndale and Michael Meaker.
Farnborough extended their lead at the top of the PREMIER DIVISION table to six points when they raced into a three-goal half time lead at Bashley before adding a last minute goal to win 4-0 in one of only five games to survive the weather. Dean McDonald earned himself an extra Christmas present by netting a hat trick in the 27th, 30th – from the spot – and 42nd minutes, with Daryl McMahon finishing things off for Boro. Cambridge City recorded a resounding 5-0 home win over Brackley Town to take over second place from their visitors. Adie Cambridge put City in front on the half-hour mark and Tony Burke doubled that 5 minutes later. Ashley Fuller added a third 6 minutes after the break and two goals in the final minute from Neil Midgley – the second from the penalty spot – gave the scoreline a rather lop-sided look. Halesowen Town moved into the play-off places when they came from behind to win 2-1 at The Grove against Stourbridge. Leon Broadhurst gave the Glassboys the lead right on half time, but Danny Edwards equalised just 4 minutes into the second half and David Blenkinsopp won it for the Yeltz with 11 minutes remaining. Didcot Town, who had led 3-2 with just 10 minutes remaining, needed a last minute goal to give them a 4-4 home draw with Oxford City who had taken the lead 2 minutes previously. Mark Draycott netted a hat trick for the Railwaymen with goals in the 6th, 10th and 75th minutes, with Phil John grabbing the last-gasp equaliser. For City, Jon Douglas gave them a 2nd minute lead and Mark Janes levelled on 36, with Liam Malone on 80 and Lee Steele on 88 being the others on target – Malone received a second yellow after scoring. Hemel Hempstead Town, five goals up before the hour with goals from Tommy Black, Clark Akers and a Jamie Eames hat trick, recorded a comfortable 5-1 home win over Bedford Town.
Only four games survived in DIVISION ONE MIDLANDS. Top of the table Hitchin Town raced into a 3-1 lead in the first 23 minutes on the way to a 4-1 home win over Arlesey Town at Top Field. Jamie Arlick helped himself to a hat trick in the 9th, 15th and 63rd minutes, with Harry Hunt scoring the fourth in between on 23 minutes – Chris Marsh replying for the visitors a minute earlier. Bury Town moved into second place, four points behind the leaders, after recovering from going behind in the 4th minute of their Ram Meadow game against AFC Sudbury to win 3-1. Bury went behind after 4 minutes to a Danny Bloomfield effort, but Tom Bullard hit the net with two headers on 27 and 40 minutes and Lee Underwood sealed the game with a close range effort 2 minutes from time. Atherstone Town, two ahead at half time through Greg Smith and new boy Gareth Sheldon, scored twice in the final 5 minutes with Anthony Bruce and Smith again the marksmen, to record a 4-2 home win after Rothwell Town had levelled the scores by the 56th minute through Robbie Maddox and Brett Darby. Biggleswade Town scored 10 minutes from time through Bobby Dance to record a 1-0 home win against Soham Town Rangers.
