Yesterday's fine win over Cinderford sees Town back up into fourth place following Fromes defeat by the only goal at Cirencester. Paulton were held to a goal-less draw at home by Bishops Cleeve and this sets up the clash between Paulton and Town tomorrow night at Paulton.k.o.7.30 p.m.
Windsor and Eton dropped two points when drawing 0-0 at Thatcham and A.F.C.Totton beat Uxbridge 2-1 at home .
Hayes win over V.T.F.C by 2 goals to one was bad news for Taunton who had a man sent off as they crashed 4-0 at Mangotsfield. Hayes are now only a point behind Taunton but have two games in hand.

AMBITIOUS Bridgwater Town joint-boss Craig Laird described the quality of football played by his side against Cinderford Town as “scintillating”.

Laird saw his side get return to winning ways with an impressive 2-0 home win over the Gloucestershire side and put their promotion push back firmly on track.

Bridgwater's promotion charge suffered a huge blow following two disappointing away defeats to Bishops Cleve and Yate Town but the win against Cinderford has reaffirmed Laird's belief his side can go up this year.

He told the Mercury: “I am very pleased with the win.

“We played some scintillating football at times but we have been playing that way even when not picking up results.

“We are playing with confidence and I keep telling the players to follow the old adage of taking each game as they come.

“The team played some fantastic football against Cinderford and it was great to watch - I would have paid to see it.”

Laird sees his side playing Conference South football in two or three years time and believes his players have what it takes to make the step up.

He added: “We are now looked at as one of the better sides in the league just a couple of years after winning promotion to the league.

“We want success for everyone involved with the club, from the back room staff, the chairman and the tea lady, and it would be great if we had a little bit more financial backing but I am more than sure we can hold our own in the league above.

“There were four or five players missing from the first team squad on Saturday and to win playing like that is a testament to how good we are.”

BRIDGWATER Town's Justin Porter has joined up with Conference National side Stevenage Borough on a loan/trial basis.

Porter was in the team for Town's win over Cinderford Town but travelled to Stevenage last week to team up with boss Craig Laird's son Scott.

Craig Laird said: “Justin is a tremendous player and we always try to help our players achieve their dreams of playing professional football.

“He stayed with my son Scott, who also plays for Stevenage, and did well.”
